My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength, And my refuge is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.
Selah
Psalm 62:5-8 NKJV
Don't be so hard on yourself. Not only is your friend an empty-nester....she also knew ahead of time that people were coming over. "Company ready" and "everyday living" can be two very different things. You'll have plenty of time for perfection when your little boy is grown.
ReplyDeleteI hear what you're saying about wanting the house to be a relaxing place for your husband. I once read an article on what the wife should have done before her dh came in the door, this was from the '50s or earlier. The only thing I remember was "put a drop of perfume behind your ear on the side you turn for his kiss on the cheek". :) I could have been much, much better at this but did try to have toys picked up and the livingroom swept, since that was where dh would head to watch TV. I still struggle with this even though there is no man coming home. My daughters definitely notice when the house is pretty and inviting. My son only notices large amounts of mess. LOL
