The most important habit...

is not giving up! I don't know how long it has been since I've worked on my habits. A lot of my previously established habits have fallen to the wayside. I guess that means they weren't really habits, doesn't it?

Anyhoo... I'm back. Trying to make my world better.

My habit this week is to re-establish our before bedtime routine.

When dinner is over, it seems like Surferman and I rush to get Grom and Gigi to bed. And then we do whatever we want to do - visit message boards, watch TV, shop for weird stuff on ebay, blog, read blogs, play computer games... you name it. We don't want to do things that will make life easier for us. We don't want to do things that are productive. We just want to do what we want to do. Selfish? Definitely.

Surferman and I had a great coffee date last Wednesday. In addition to watching a LOST recap (LOST restarts 1/31!)




and talking about 2008 vacation plans, we discussed changing our evening routine and getting up earlier.

Here's our list...

Set up coffeemakers
Plan lunch
Plan breakfast
Shower
Empty trash / recycles
Layout clothes - Me and Grom
Prep bags (Grom's bag and bag of good food)
Pick up house
Start dishwasher
Turn off lights (amazing that this needs to be on our list, but we've had problems with it lately)
Supplements
Tend to Laundry
10:00 pm bedtime

Pray for us. There is a lot of selfishness that is going to have to be put aside to make this happen. And even more selfishness to make this a habit.

Like It or Not... Here comes Monday

I know that these posts I make on Sundays make such a difference in how my week goes.

I have managed to get the cold that first Grom and then Surferman have been dealing with. I hope I have it worse, because I haven't been very sympathetic with either of them. I feel b a d.

A new week is here and I have to get it together.

I did better this week with my habits. I was consistent with earrings and going to bed earlier (thanks to Surferman). I'm going to focus on drinking water this week. Fluids should help my cold too.

Habit 7 - Wear earrings daily - HABIT!
Habit 3 - Lights out by 10 pm nightly. - Surferman has been a great encouragement.

Habit 2 - Drink 3 qts of water daily.

Leftover Pork Ribs - Some Yummy Carb - Veggies - Salad

Enchilladas (from the freezer - didn't eat last week) - Rice - Beans - Salad

Meatloaf Sandwiches - Tomato Soup

Chicken and Stuffing Casserole - Salad

Spaghetti Squash with Meat Sauce - Garlic Bread - Salad

Saturday
Dinner out before church

Family Dinner - Menu TBD

My life has been Lovelier. I completed some of my tasks and have some new ones to add.

I'm back with the same tasks this week.
1. Clean out and organize the drawers on Grom's bed.
4. Spiff up guest bathroom.
7. Have a tea party with Grom and Gigi.
8. Pack Surferman's lunch 3 times this week - add love notes.
9. Organize Gigi's bathroom drawers.
10. Wear perfume daily.
11. Restart and be consistent with Daily Bible Reading plan.

The only way to start a week...

I know it's not Saturday, but I like the idea of Lara's Smart Habit Saturday, I just have an awful time of getting a post done on Saturday. I'm going to add it to my Sunday night post that helps me organize my week.

I feel like a habit creating failure. I've managed to set ONE habit and it's pretty silly in the grandness of life.

Habit 7 - Wear earrings daily - HABIT!

I am not abandoning my desired habits, I'm just regrouping and starting over. Here's what I'm working on this week...

Habit 3 - Lights out by 10 pm nightly.

Habit 2 - Drink 3 qts of water daily.

Lunch = Leadership Meeting at church - Making 3 kinds of Chili - Cornbread - Salad
Dinner with my folks


My Commitment to Loveliness wasn't much of a commitment last week.

I'm back with the same tasks this week.

Smart Habit Saturday


So it's not Saturday... I should get points (whatever they're good for) for picking myself up and getting back to them.

I was a lot of talk and not much action last week. Please pray for me. I want to be disciplined and diligent, but I get distracted so easy.

Habit 7 - Wear earrings daily - HABIT!

Habit 6 - Lotion feet nightly - My feet are so calloused and dry that I probably don't need shoes.

Habit 5 - Write down all food eaten and post on the refrigerator. Evaluate food list for healthier choices in the future and ways to avoid problem eating.- Umm... yeah, this needs work.

Habit 4 - Daily, early morning devotion time. I want to be out of bed at 5:45 am every morning for 45 minutes with my Lord for reading of the Word, prayer and book study. - I've been better this week. I'm making it up early about 5 out of 7 days. I have 36 days to catch up with my Daily Bible Reading Plan for the year.

Habit 3 - Lights out by 11 pm nightly. - See habit #4

Habit 2 - Drink 3 qts of water daily. Back to baby stepping - goal is 2 qts this week.

Habit 1 - Wash my face every night. I'm amazed at how fast this habit feel off. And my skin shows it.

(Need something to) Work for Me Wednesday - Earrings

One of my Smart Habits has been to wear earrings daily. I've been doing a good job and have even purchased a few new pairs.

But they are a mess of tangled stuff in a little box.

My organized mind can't handle it.

Help!

I don't really want them on display but I'd like to be able to see them all and get to them easily.

How do you keep your earrings organized? Do you have a great jewelry box that you recommend? Or something you've recycled? Let's hear some ideas...

Smart Habit Saturday

I'm back!

Don't know where I went, but my habits really took a hit from my absence. I guess the accountability of posting is worth more than I thought.

So here's what I was working on and here's how it looks today.

Habit 7 - Wear earrings daily - HABIT! I bought some new earrings. And lost one yesterday (bummer).

Habit 6 - Lotion feet nightly - My feet are so calloused and dry that I probably don't need shoes.

Habit 5 - Write down all food eaten and post on the refrigerator. Evaluate food list for healthier choices in the future and ways to avoid problem eating.- Umm... yeah, this needs work.

Habit 4 - Daily, early morning devotion time. I want to be out of bed at 5:45 am every morning for 45 minutes with my Lord for reading of the Word, prayer and book study. - I've been better this week. Smart Habit Saturday

Not adding any new habits this week. I'm still struggling with going to bed and getting up for time with God.

Habit 7 - Wear earrings daily - HABIT! I need some new earrings.

Habit 6 - Lotion feet nightly - doing well, my feet are still really beat up from flip flops though

Habit 5 - Write down all food eaten. Evaluate food list for healthier choices in the future and ways to avoid problem eating. - not so good this last week - a focus habit this week.

Habit 4 - Daily, early morning devotion time. I want to be out of bed at 5:45 am every morning for 45 minutes with my Lord for reading of the Word, prayer and book study. - I stink at this habit. I'm being rebellious and would appreciate your prayers.

Habit 3 - Lights out by 11 pm nightly. - See habit #4

Habit 2 - Drink 3 qts of water daily. Back to baby stepping - goal is 2 qts this week.

Smart Habit Saturday

I would have never guessed that my last SHS post was on July 21st. Where did the time go? Check out Lara, The Lazy Organizer for more Smart Habits Saturday.

I've continued with my habits and have added a couple more.

Habit 7 - Wear earrings daily - doing well with this, I have found I have lots of earrings that I really like.

Habit 6 - Lotion feet nightly - doing well, my feet are still really beat up from flip flops though

Habit 5 - Write down all food eaten. Evaluate food list for healthier choices in the future and ways to avoid problem eating. - about 50%, I need to be better about writing things down as I eat them and not waiting until the end of the day when my memory gets fuzzy.

Habit 4 - Daily, early morning devotion time. I want to be out of bed at 5:45 am every morning for 45 minutes with my Lord for reading of the Word, prayer and book study. - I stink at this habit. I'm being rebellious and would appreciate your prayers.

Smart Habit Saturday

It's Saturday again! I'm back for another round of Smart Habits Saturday.

I had a lot more recovering from my surgery last week than I expected. I plodded along with my habits. Didn't do great with them, didn't do terrible either.

I'm feeling like I'm back, and I'm buckling down. I'm hitting my habits hard this week and am going to add another.

Habit 5 - Write down all food eaten. Evaluate food list for healthier choices in the future and ways to avoid problem eating.

Habit 4 - Daily, early morning devotion time. I want to be out of bed at 5:45 am every morning for 45 minutes with my Lord for reading of the Word, prayer and book study. - Restarting this week.

Habit 3 - Lights out by 11 pm nightly.

Habit 2 - Drink 3 qts of water daily. Back to baby stepping - goal is 2 qts this week.

Habit 1 - Wash my face every night. Was almost a habit - I'm getting it back.

Smart Habit Saturday


Lara the Lazy Organizer hosts Smart Habit Saturdays. I've been sidelined for the past few weeks and my habits have taken a hit. I had my gall bladder removed. Let's just say that it wasn't on my list of things to do and it has caused a little upheaval in my life.

I've been off work for about 2 weeks and am ready for my body to be ready to get back into the swing of life.

Here's the habits I had been working on...

Habit 4 - Daily, early morning devotion time. I want to be out of bed at 5:45 am every morning for 45 minutes with my Lord for reading of the Word, prayer and book study. - On hold this week.
Habit 3 - Lights out by 11 pm nightly.
Habit 2 - Drink 3 qts of water daily. Back to baby stepping - goal is 1 1/2 qts this week.
Habit 1 - Wash my face every night. Was almost a habit - it's slipped a bit, but I'm getting it back.

Right now, I don't know when I'll be back to work, but I can start getting back into some of the habits that work for me. I haven't needed my "brain book" so that's one of the first things I'm going to get going.

Smart Habit Saturday

Lara the Lazy Organizer hosts Smart Habit Saturdays. It has been motivating to me and has encouraged me to work on some improvements in my life.

I'm sticking with the habits I've been working on.

I didn't do well this week with my newest habit. I'm disappointed with myself. I feel like Paul... "For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice." (Romans 7:19)

I won't give up.

Smart Habit Saturday

Lara the Lazy Organizer hosts Smart Habit Saturdays. It has been really motivating to me and has encouraged me to work on some improvements in my life.

I'm adding a new habit this week even though I have had stellar results with my habit from last week. My habit last week was to be in bed with the lights out by 11 pm. Well... I was in bed by 11 pm each of the nights, but not with lights off.

The habit I'm setting next should help me be better about my last habit. To be successful, I'll have to get to bed.

Habit 4 - Daily, early morning devotion time. I want to be out of bed at 5:45 am every morning for 45 minutes with my Lord for reading of the Word, prayer and book study.

Smart Habit Saturday

I am a complete failure at drinking water. I just don't think about it. When I do, it's too late to try to get it in my body unless I want to sleep on the potty. I'm not giving up, but I'm going to reduce my goal and baby step up to the 3 qts that I need to drink each day.

And to keep things moving, I'm adding a new habit.

Works For Me Wednesday - Fast Face Washing

One of the items on my list of 101 Things to Do
is to wash my face every night for 30 days. I started tackling it through Smart Habit Saturday hosted by The Lazy Organizer.

I'm a night owl and often don't have the good sense to go to bed. By the time I start heading that way, I'm exhausted. My face usually gets neglected, but not anymore. I've been working on establishing the habit of washing my face every night. It's working.

One thing I have found that helps are those premoistened facial wipes. The brand I bought from Costco is Ponds.




I wouldn't use them every night but they sure do the job when I haven't had the sense to get to bed before I was too tired to get to bed.

Smart Habit Saturday

I'm back for another SMART Habits Saturday with The Lazy Organizer.

It's been a great week. I'm 7 for 7 with my habit of washing my face AND as a bonus I've been taking my vitamins and supplements every night also. 23 days from crossing off one of my 101 things to do.

I'm adding drinking water this week. My goal is to drink 3 qts of water a day. One of the quarts will have electrolytes added.

Smart Habit Saturday

I found out about S.M.A.R.T. Habits Saturday through Organizing Junkie's Challenge. The Lady Organizer was one of the judges of the challenge. She started Smart Habits Saturday at the beginning of the year to help tame those allusive New Year's Resolutions.

The idea is that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. Choose one thing a week and work on making it part of your life. Next week add another habit.

I figure participating could help me knock out some of my 1o1 Things to Do.

I'm going to start with one of those...
