I don't know when it started, but we've been doing it for years. Friday night is "Steak and a Movie Night". To celebrate the end of an always long week, we have an easy dinner. Easy to prepare and easy to clean up.
Grom gets to go to bed early. Surferman grills the steak. Top Sirloin is our favorite. I nuke some potatoes and the salad always comes out of a bag. We pull out the trays, pop a movie into the DVD player and kick back and relax.
There are occasional variations. Fish and a Movie Night. Take Out and a Movie Night. But it's really nice to know the plan. The hardest part... who gets to choose the movie.
We tried doing "pizza & a movie" nights on Fridays, but one of 2 things would always happen:
ReplyDelete1. It's friday, so the video store is ransacked and nothing's left, or
2. we'd just plain forget. :(
We changed it to Wednesdays. For some reason it's easier to remember (probably because we're LOST addicts and that comes on on Wednesdays) and stick to. Plus the video store is always full of good stuff in the middle of the week. :)
What a great tradition for your family! We normally do homemade pizza, but steak sounds really yummy! Thanks for sharing!

I think this sounds like a great idea! Steaks are so easy to cook, aren't they? And I bet it's peaceful always knowing what you're gonna be doing.
ReplyDeleteGREAT IDEA! I pitched this idea to my husband and it was a huge hit!! Hope you don't mind if I steal it from you... it works out great to because Fridays are the nights that the boys can watch a movie if they were good during the week :0)... I told them we would get a movie from the library. Thanks for sharing!
