I was just told it is now 7:12.

I'm not sure if this is better or worse than "are we there yet?"

Grom, Surferman and I are on a road trip.

Grom found a watch yesterday. Today he's learned to tell time.

It's 7:10.

Random Dozen - 5/26/10

1. Would you rather host party or simply attend a party?
host a party... for sure. I'm surprisingly shy in party situations.

2. Tell us about the most memorable party you've been to.
our wedding reception was exceptional... past that it's hard to say... I've been to some great parties.

3. What is one thing you hope for in the after-life?
besides being in the eternal presence of Jesus... see #9 - calorie free of course.

4. What do you enjoy most about sunshine?
the warmth - that feeling when your bones are warm

5. When you attend a bridal/baby shower, do you prefer to bring your own gift or chip in with others to buy a larger gift?
either. Anyone want to go in on something for Meagan?

6. Would you rather have a FREE week of having your house cleaned or all of your meals cooked for you and your family?
without a doubt... house cleaning

7. What song describes your mood today?
Dead Man's Party - Surferman and I are out for the count. Nothing is staying down.

8. What is something you received for your own bridal shower/wedding that you still own or use? (If you are not married, feel free to sub a gift you received a long time ago.)
We have lots of things... I still LOVE the silverware we received.

9. Your favorite flavor of ice cream is?
Ben and Jerry's "Everything but the" - yummy!

10. When was the last time you felt "tested?"
see #9. I've also had some busy times in the last couple of weeks that were testing.

11. "[Fill in the blank] is a food that once I start eating I find really hard to stop."
see #9

12. "-----" is the best motivation.
I don't think I know what motivates me... maybe family, maybe an event... not sure.

Daybook May 25, 2010

FOR TODAY - Tuesday May 25, 2010

Outside my window... it's dark. It's almost tomorrow. It's been a busy evening and I'm just getting some me time and want to blog.

I am thinking... about getting something to eat. I'm not going to. It's too close to bedtime.

I am thankful for... time with my mom tonight. We went to Lowe's to buy stuff for the remodel. I thought we were done, but when we got home, it seems the lights for the bathroom won't work. I'm frustrated.

From the learning rooms... a reading marathon. Grom and I have been reading the books off the shelves that we can't say are great books. We read, evaluate and put the losers in a bag for Goodwill.

From the kitchen... meatballs from Ikea, mashed potatoes and green beans. FABULOUS!

I am wearing... my pajamas.

I am creating... decorating plans. I'm still making lots of decisions. We had to pick out carpet AGAIN today. It didn't get ordered when I thought it did. It is supposed to be installed early next week, so we had to go back and find something that "in stock". Fortunately we found something I like. The shower tiles went in today and they look fab.

I am going... to keep looking for light fixtures for our bathroom. I won't give up (even though I want to).

I am reading... Still working on Crazy Love by Francis Chan and The Shack by what's his name. They are on that list of books to read on my 101 list. And I just got Linchpin by Seth Godin from the library. Linchpin is a brand new book, so I've got to get that one read in the next 2 weeks. My answer hasn't changed from last week.

I am hoping... Grom loses his second tooth soon. It's really loose, but he insists he's not going to let me yank this one.

I am hearing... Surferman rolling and groaning. I think he has whatever Grom had yesterday. Grom couldn't keep anything down all day. Pray Surferman gets past it soon and that I escape it.

Around the house... the tile in the bathroom is done, the cabinets in the kitchen are in and the end is in sight.

One of my favorite things... I feel like I'm running out of favorite things or that all my favorite things involve food. Thinking... here's one... cleaning out my ears after a shower with a Q-tip. Tossing the dirty Q-tip is so satisfying.

Vocabulary word of the week:
imbroglio (n.): a complicated, sometimes emotionally charged, situation involving intrigue and misunderstanding
synonyms: predicament, snarl, tangle, mess, dispute
used in a sentence: The company may not survive another legal imbroglio.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Kids Club Year End Celebration!, and a trip to San Francisco with friends.

Here are some pictures I am sharing...Princess M

How you can be praying for me and mine... health for Surferman, obedience for Grom, that I'd get my motivation back to lose more weight - consistency for all of us.

Have a great week. Check out other daybooks at The Simple Woman's Daybook.

Peace Day

Grom's school celebrates Peace Day / Earth Day.
Neither of these have been big causes of celebration in the past, but this year...

We celebrated with Grom as he was named the boy Pax Leader for Kindergarten.

The teachers choose Pax Leaders from their classrooms.
Grom was the first Pax Leader chosen back in August.

It's great to know that his attitude and behavior persisted through the school year.
He was so proud of the award he received.

Pax Leaders are chosen for their efforts to make the school
a better, safer and more peaceful place.
They are helpful, seek guides for problems, and encourage their classmates.

He was so happy the girlies came.

Surferman and I are so proud of Grom.
We see Jesus in him.

Sometimes I get mad at myself...

Here's Grom at Kids Club. He's doing hand motions and worshiping the Lord.

Here's Grom after he saw me take his picture.

I stink.

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
John 4:24

Flippin' Fun

Boys Level A! I had my sister's super camera and got some fun shots. The pictures still are fantastic, but for photos taken from the parent observation deck at a very big gym they are good.

Grom and his buddy Eli have been doing gymnastics for quite a while - years. We expect Grom to be as tall as Surferman, so we know there are no gymnastic gold medals in his future. I think it's beneficial for coordination, strength and following directions.

Each week, they rotate through some of the Men's Events - floor exercise, rings, giant bar, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars.

Elias does a mean cartwheel

Backward rolls for the floor exercise.
(Do not call it a somersault)

Practicing handstands,

tripods,

and scissor kicks.

Practicing pommel horse mounts...

and dismounts.

These boys have a lot of fun.

Coach Allie is great.
She keeps them safe and doesn't let them get away with misbehavior.

And she's really good at throwing them into the pit at the end of class.

Eli catching big air.

Grom ready for launch...

and orbit.

Eli's mom and I sit and watch.
We both really want to jump into that pit.

DONE #55. Paint our bedroom

Number 1 zero Educational Brick Number 1

letter T o D oletter S

Actually John the Painter painted our bedroom.
Regardless it's done!

The bedroom is Warm Scones.

The bathroom is Terracotta Tile.

These aren't our rooms.

I hope to post some progress photos soon.

5 done... 96 to go.

DONE #24. Get passport for Grom

1 phone 0 number 1

letter T O Dd O S

Grom can finally leave the country. Surferman and I have been talking about getting him one since it became required to go to even Canada or Mexico. Getting his passport is actually a hold over from the first list. We just never got to the last step.

We got the pictures taken. I picked up the forms. The pictures and forms got put into a pile somewhere.

Then we figured out last week, that Grom's summer plans include a jaunt into Canada with his Grandparents. We joked about having him hide under blankets, but decided it was best to just get the job done.We payed the stupid tax of expediting and should have it in time for his trip to the Great White North. It's about time.

4 done... 97 to go.

Grom and the T-ball Giants

Grom is enjoying his first season of T-ball.

Coach is teaching them to play baseball.
He's great. Very patient and motivating.

Grom's game face

Batter up!

(remember to keep your eye on the ball)

STRIKE!

They've started the "coach pitch" part of the season.
Each player gets pitches from their coach
and if they don't get a hit, out comes the tee.
Every player gets to hit each inning.

When Grom is hitting off the tee,
he addresses the ball like he's teeing off for golf.
He's been getting some golf lessons with Grandpa.
I think the skills for each are getting confused.

I should warn you that there are quite a few pictures.
I borrowed my sister's fancy smancy DSLR
and had a lot of fun and got some fun shots.
Now I want a DSLR.

He's running so fast, his feet aren't touching the ground.

SAFE... maybe.
They don't play outs (I think it's ridiculous, but don't get me started).

Where's Surferman?
Oh... I see him. He's chatting in the outfield.

Celebrating at third.

Skipping home.
Grom has become quite a skipper.
He's fast and when he's having a lot of fun and not concentrating to hard,
I catch him skipping instead of running.

When they practiced running the bases,
Coach had them yell out the number of each base when they hit it.
Grom still does it even during games.
I love hearing him yell, "HOME".

Taking the field... ready position.

When the ball gets hit, it's mayhem.
It usually gets by the fielder and then EVERYbody runs after it.

And then... there is no one to throw it to.

This time, the play was at third.
Grom is scooping the ball off the ground to make the play.

Yer OUT!
Wait... we don't play outs.
Everyone wins! (sheesh)

It's a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame,
for a ballgame, today.
The fans are out to get a ticket or two
From Walla Walla, Washington to Kalamazoo

It's a beautiful day for a home run
But even a triple's okay
We're gonna cheer
And boo
And raise a hallabaloo
At the ballgame, today!
