Daybook December 29, 2010

FOR TODAY Wednesday December 29, 2010

Outside my window... a bright golden setting sun is streaming over the ocean. We've had some great sunsets lately.

I am thinking... about 2011. Not resolutions but goals and changes. There are always so many things,

I am thankful for... a little bit of a break from the routine of our usual weekday schedule. I've been able to sleep a little later and we've done some fun things.

From the learning rooms... It's Christmas break. We've done a little bit of school stuff here and there. Grom is working on a Hooked On Phonics kit that Grandma bought at a garage sale. I'm changing my approach for our home studies when school starts up again. We'll be doing some unit studies in our time together.

From the kitchen... cookies. Read more about it soon.

I am wearing... jeans, trainers, dark purple tee

I am creating... nothing, nada, nilch. I have projects galore in my head. I might be losing my studio. That won't help this drought.

I am going... to the Drive In with Surferman and Grom tonight. It's a double feature - Yogi Bear and Tron. Grom will go to sleep in the back after Yogi.

I am reading... the instructions for my new camera. Yipee!

I am hoping... to blog more regularly. I like blogging.

I am hearing... music and the happy noises of kids in the jacuzzi outside.

Around the house... the Christmas decorations are starting to look a little tired.

One of my favorite things... bedtime prayers with Grom. He stalls. I petition our awesome Father. We talk about the day and give the good and bad to the Lord.

Vocabulary word of the week:
insouciance (n.) - the quality of being carefree; a lack of concern.
Surferman has insouciance down to an art form.

A few plans for the rest of the week: this, that and the other... maybe the celebration at church on Friday night for New Years, maybe we'll stay home, maybe...? There is a lot of stuff that needs to be done. I don't know how much of it that I want to do.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...The Girlies in Grammy's hats. They got them for Christmas.

Daybook December 6, 2010

FOR TODAY Monday December 6, 2010

Outside my window... nothing has changed... it's dark. Today was a nice day. Very typical weather. Kinda cool, but not. Long pants weather, but Grom was fine in shorts and flip flops.

I am thinking... that I have other things I could be doing, but that I feel like I've been neglecting my blog, so here I am. I like blogging. I'm also feeling a little frumpy. I feel a challenge coming on. Any frumps out there that want to join me?

I am thankful for... free movies from Redbox that I can get to bless Surferman.

From the learning rooms... Today was an independent study day (no school). Grom did some iPad learning (someday I'll write a post with all the best educational aps I've found) and then a worksheet on telling time. We're short science for this learning period. I want to do something with leaves. And I'm still really unclear on what Social Studies are. Anyone have a really clear explanation?

From the kitchen... my mom made the most delicious cassoulet for dinner. It was fabulous and I'm really happy that there is a second casserole tucked away in the freezer for another meal. YUMMERS!

I am wearing... jeans, beet ribbed long sleeved tee with a black tank top for modesty

I am creating... to do lists. I don't think that counts.

I am going... to start heading to bed in 7 minutes. maybe...

I am reading... magazines. I have quite a pile of unread magazines. I just read about preparing a perfect Thanksgiving dinner. At the rate I'm going, I'll be getting organization tips for Christmas at Valentine's Day.

I am hoping... to get my Christmas shopping done soon.

I am hearing... the happy chime of my iPhone telling me that it's my turn for a "Words with Friends" game.

Around the house... our kitchen designer came by to take "after" pictures of our kitchen. We cleared off the refrigerator for the photos. It looks nice and blank. It might stay that way for a while.

One of my favorite things... my small silver hoop earrings that don't have to come out of my ears. They are very comfortable and versatile however boring they might be. I do need to change them up a little more often than I do.

Vocabulary word of the week:
bumbershoot - (noun): umbrella, parasol
used in a sentence: It rains so little here that I'd rather get wet than drag around a bumbershoot.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Gogo has a couple of local soccer games, some usual stuff, Night in Bethlehem, dinner with quilting friends. It's busy, but I like it. I'm trying to keep a few nights for at home.

Here is picture I am sharing...My friend's youngest... Isn't that the cutest reindeer you've seen this season?

How you can be praying for me and mine... Communication! It's easy for everyone to get going in multiple directions and for chaos to result.
