Pears

Had to share these cute little pears. They came in our box this week. Each about the size of a golf ball (and just as hard right now).

I can taste them already. I hope they are as juicy as they are cute.

Grom is going to eat them up.

FOR TODAY... Monday September 29, 2008

Outside My Window... the setting sun is shining in on me... warming me... not quite in my eyes

I am thinking... about getting off my bumm and computer and starting dinner

I am thankful for... a little boy who can entertain himself outside so well

From the kitchen... dirty dishes mostly. I've been having fun making Baked Oatmeal. It comes out as a cross between a bowl of oatmeal and a Clif bar. I've been tweaking the recipe. I'll share it soon. Very yummy.

I am wearing... here we go again... black capris, black flip flops, black t-shirt with a dark red t-shirt on top... oh and a beautiful white bandage above my eye

I am creating... nada... zilch... nothing...

I am going... to go put away CSA veggies. I just saw Suferman drive around the corner. WOO HOO! Veggies and Suferman!

I am reading... Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I'm in deep and enjoying it. Don't like the cover (it's embarassing to take along)

I am hoping... Surferman will take us out to dinner. Don't think it's going to happen.

I am hearing... a little boy wanting something to eat.

Around the house... I'm trying to declutter. 10 things a day. I don't think I'll ever be done.

One of my favorite things... crisp, cold granny smith apples

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Open House at local Montessori Preschool, 4WD Club Meeting, Lunch with some wonderful gals, Stitches out (Grom wants to watch. Should I let him?), Party, Another Party, and Guests.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...We went to Disneyland the weekend before last. This is a picture of Grom enjoying a yogurt VERY early the first day. He was so anxious to get going and get to the park. He had talked to Mickey (wake up call) and thought that by being outside he was a little closer.

What's for Dinner - Week of September 28, 2008

My goal and mission right now is to eat up our CSA veggies and clean out our pantry and freezers. I'm doing pretty good, but there is still a lot to get to.

Monday - Calamari (freezer) and Cucumber (CSA box) salad.

Tuesday - Open House at Montessori Preschool. Veggie (CSA) Soup with Tofu.

Wednesday - 4WD Club Meeting at Pizza Parlor

Friday - ????

Saturday - My parents host the dinner for their 11th annual golf tournament. Surferman and I are acting hosts for the party - passing appetizers and dessert, picking up garbage, making sure the ice bucket is full, etc.

Sunday - Family Dinner with my parents.

School Room FINISHED!

Way back when, I wrote about our new school room. Go there and you can see some "before" photos.

It's been done for a while, but I haven't had a chance to post the "after" pictures. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Surferman was very helpful and had to get into the shots.
We put a shelf along the wall above the door.
It's great storage for things Grom needs to grow into.
I get great deals at garage sales and have some fun stuff for later.

Here's our reading chair and art gallery.

Bookshelf

Bookshelf (close up)
All labeled and sorted.
We have a basket for books to be reshelved.

The view of our back deck.
ABC clings decorate the door.

Toy bins.
So far it's working to have toys in here.

Storage

Storage!

This weeks stuff

Bulletin Board and Work Table

White Board

Grom's learning station

FLOR carpet.

Besides paint and the FLOR carpet, the only thing I purchased for the room is a plastic table from Costco. Our stimulus check is (mostly) in the bank.

I pray that lots of learning, fun and memories happen in this space.

FOR TODAY... Monday September 15, 2008

Outside My Window... the sun is shining, birds are gathered on a telephone pole, the hills are brown.

I am thinking... it would be nice to not be an adult. We're dealing with a lot of "grown up" stuff lately - health, finances, etc. Nothing terrible, but I rather be sent outside to eat a popsicle.

I am thankful for... new babies everywhere.

From the kitchen... tonight... Peanut Noodles with Chicken and Veggies.

I am wearing... really old black pants, red t-shirt and flip flops

I am creating... not sure yet. I'm going to Craft Night at church. It'll be nice to have some time with the ladies.

I am going... to Disneyland this weekend. My parents gave us a trip to Disney in honor of Gigi. We are going with a family that we are good friends with. We're staying at the Disneyland Hotel. I can hardly wait to see Grom's face when he "gets it". Grom doesn't watch much TV and has no idea of the scope of Disney and it's characters. He's going to be blown away.

I am reading... Superfoods for healthy kids. I'm going to start Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers tonight.

I am hoping... for cabbage in our CSA produce box. A sweet surprise would be nice too.

I am hearing... the sounds of work. We are getting new hard wood floors as I type.

Around the house... new hard wood floors! And a new sofa is supposed to arrive this weekend.

One of my favorite things... sleeping with the window wide open. I love the feeling of a cool crisp bedroom when I'm under a nice warm comforter.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I'm trying to get back in my groove, so I hope to get stuff done around the house and be prepared for our Disneyland adventure.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...Surferman heading out to find a wave. I just noticed that from this picture it looks really flat. He was able to find some waves to body board.
