Daybook March 2, 2009

FOR TODAY... Monday March 2, 2009

Outside My Window... beautiful dusk after a crazy weather day... rain, drizzle and sunshine.

I am thinking... about planting some lettuce and some herbs. Grom and I tried last year. Just as the lettuce sprouted a very hungry snail had himself a micro greens salad. It was discouraging. I think it's time to try again.

I am thankful for... employment. Surferman accepted a job today!

From the kitchen... I've been all about yogurt cheese lately. I made a nice dill herbed cheese the other day and I have a sweet vanilla one in progress. I'll blog about it soon.

From the school room... finally some momentum for Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. I'm trying to get ahead of myself with planning, so that I have the materials I need when I need them. We talked about steam engines and steam power today.

I am wearing... Black pants, purplyblue shirt, black shoes... b.o.r.i.n.g.

I am creating... I'm quilting again. It's pretty exciting. I also have a digiproject started. And there is always a knitted washcloth in my knitting bag.

I am going... to offer to take Surferman out to eat to celebrate. It's a new month and we have eating out money. A new job calls for a celebration.

I am reading... "Embrace Me" by Lisa Samson... still.

I am hoping... my friend's baby is able to come home from the hospital soon. Simon was born early. He needs to learn how to take a feeding from a bottle. He's being adopted by our friends. I'm also praying for favor with all the details of the adoption.

I am hearing... the sounds of a boy playing with my scrapbooking punches. They fell after being stacked into a tower. The punches jump and talk to each other. Who needs toys?

Around the house... We started a chore chart with Grom. He is really into it. Each Sunday he and I take turns picking the chores and character items he is going to be responsible for. The chart we bought is cool because it is magnetic and has white board tiles that we can personalize. This week... "No Hitting". If Grom does a good job getting stuff done, he gets comission (a la Dave Ramsey). $5 total. $1 for God, $2 for Savings, $2 for Spending.

One of my favorite things... Kristen. It's her birthday today. She's my favorite girl geek.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: lots of fun, lots of work. We are really excited to have Grom's Friend-Buddy ALL DAY on Friday. Grom and I are very excited.

Here is picture I am sharing... some freesia my mom vased and put in my studio. Taken with my iPhone. How you can be praying for me and mine... Please pray for Surferman's new job - that he would be a light for Jesus at his workplace. Pray for Grom's manners - that he would be better at looking people in the eye and talking to people who talk to him. Pray for my quiet time - that it would happen consistently and joyfully.
