daybook 12.19.11

FOR TODAY, Monday December 19, 2011

Outside my window... it's a dusky grey.

I am thinking... about the things I need to finish... for Christmas and for day-to-day life.

I am thankful... surprise extra moments alone.

From the learning rooms... it's winter break.  We are still doing some math and reading on the computer.  Grom also has some One Minute Reader to get done.

In the kitchen... I roasted a turkey and baked a ham yesterday.  I need to process the leftovers.  I have visions of turkey soup, hot turkey sandwiches, split pea soup, baked beans and ham for quiche swirling in my head.  I don't know if there are enough leftovers to fulfill my dreams.

I am wearing... my least favorite jeans and a long sleeved red tee shirt.  It's been a bad day for tees.  I'm on my 3rd one... I seem to have a drinking problem.  I've spilled coffee twice today.

I am creating... I have a project to start and finish for my grandmother for Christmas.  Past that I really need to get my nursing CEUs done so I can renew my license.

I am going... get our Christmas cards in the mail before Christmas.  (I hope saying it aloud will motivate me to make it happen.)

I am wondering... why anyone would let Jack Frost get close enough to nip their nose.

I am reading... that same book by Michael Baron that I can't remember the name of.  I finished Mockingjay.  Good series.  Not sure I'm going to want to see the movies when they come out.

I am hoping... that our family dinner tonight is nice, that my mom feels celebrated and loved and that she really digs the birthday present we got her.

I am looking forward to... duh!  Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  We get to celebrate the birth of our salvation!

I am hearing... the funky eclectic music that is always playing at Starbucks.  I don't think it's even Christmas music.  How weird is that?

Around the house... the stockings are hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon will be there.

I am pondering... the difference between pondering and wondering...  I usually just cut and paste the daybook questions from my last daybook.  Today I went to the source and got a fresh version.  They've changed a little.  So what is the difference between pondering and wondering?

One of my favorite things... my surfboard fin sanuks.  They are getting so worn out, but they make me smile and are so comfortable.  Unfortunately (and typically) they don't make them anymore.

A few plans for the rest of the week: lots of karate, pizza with family, events at church, sunrise surfing, opening presents, bagel and lox

Here is picture I am sharing...
this is the never before seen Christmas card from 2007.
Grom was about 3 1/2.  Wasn't he cute?
It would've had some text, but I never got it finished... sigh

I'm not good at Christmas cards.

  1. Your's sounds like a busy household! The leftovers you're thinking about sound scrumptious! Love your photo you shared.
